Each rug is unique

Wool rug - Meadow Brown gives a light living room a dark anchor beneath the sofa and coffee table. The brown pairs with oak, walnut and cognac leather, and brings out cream, beige and ochre in your styling more richly. On a light wooden or concrete floor, the rug defines the seating area sharply. In a Japandi or wabi-sabi interior, Meadow Brown sits well with clay, linen and dark ceramics. The handwoven wool feels full and springy, and adds softness to a room with a hard floor. Meadow is suitable for underfloor heating, so warmth from below passes straight through the rug.

Wool

Sheep's wool is the basis of this rug, and owes its dirt and moisture repellent properties to lanolin, the wool's own natural grease, which also insulates against the cold and muffles sound better than a hard floor. In the first few weeks the fibre may shed slightly, a normal trait that settles down with regular vacuuming. Because wool rugs are often hand knotted or hand woven, small irregularities and slight size variations are normal.

Care

Vacuum twice a week with the brush retracted, this also reduces shedding on a new wool rug. Blot a spill immediately with a clean, slightly damp cloth without rubbing, so dirt does not work further into the fibre. Wool dries more slowly than other materials, so avoid getting it too wet. Shake the rug out outside occasionally for a deeper clean between vacuuming.

Your wool rug

On colder days

Wool holds on to warmth, which you feel most on a wooden or tiled floor.

Light shedding at first

Some loose fibre can be left over from the making, and a few rounds with the vacuum removes it.

Slow to absorb moisture

A drop sits on the surface for a moment, so dabbing is usually enough.
